John 17:26

John 17:26 ESV

“I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known,
that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them."

Jesus made known to us the name of God.  We knew the name of YHWH (oh, the glory of that name!), and Jesus made known to us the name Joshua (YHWH saves).  Now we not only know there is a magnificent God who is; we also know that God is a saving God.  He is a God who delights to come to the rescue of His people.  Praise Jesus!

And Jesus continues to make that name known.  When he left earth he did not leave us without the Paraclete, the Counselor.  He continues to make His name known through the Holy Spirit.  We bask, not only in the glory of the name revealed 2000 years ago; we daily revel in that glory, that grace that God gives to His people!

The purpose of Jesus’ revelation is that we may partake in the love the Father has in the Son.  What?!  Can it be?!  We get to partake in the most intimate, most glorious, most holy joy in all of creation.  Here we get an idea of why adultery is so terrible.  The intimacy of a husband and wife is to be a reflection of the intimacy of Jesus with His Bride. To have another intrude on that intimacy is unthinkable: it is abhorrent in the greatest degree possible.  But, we get to do exactly that in the relationship with the Son and the Father.  We get to because we are in Christ.  This, the greatest of all mysteries, is unfathomable: but it is true because He is ‘in them’, ‘in us’.

Praise Jesus!  Is there a greater honor?  Is there a greater joy?  No not one!

Praise You Father for the intimacy You share with the Son.

Praise You Son for the intimacy You share with me.

Praise You Spirit for the intimacy You communicate to Your Church.

Intimate with Jesus, along with you,

Pastor Greg
