2 Chronicles 32:1,22

2 Chronicles 32:1 NIV

After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, thinking to conquer them for himself.

2 Chronicles 32:22 NIV

So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib king of Assyria and from the hand of all others. He took care of them on every side.

Do you think your piety will save you from trials in your life?  If you do, you will be sorely disappointed!

2 Timothy 3:12 NIV

In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,

The Chronicler goes out of his way to assert that the attack on Jerusalem was related to Hezekiah’s righteousness.  Do not expect less.

On the other hand.  God delivered Hezekiah from desires of Sennacherib; though there have been many who have not been so spared (Hebrews 11:36-38).  There is no guarantee of deliverance from human weapons: there is only a guarantee of God’s Presence through that suffering (Matt 11:28-30).

Praise You Father that You can deliver Your people.

Praise You Son that You did deliver us from the final trouble.

Praise You Spirit that You remain with those of Yours who suffer.

Waiting in hope with you,

Pastor Greg
